Grades of Fistula & Treatment Approach
Grade 1 – Medication & Hygiene Support

Grade 2 – Simple Fistula Tract (Low Fistula)
Treated with Fistulotomy or Laser Ablation — a minimally invasive procedure that removes the tract with quick healing and minimal discomfort.
Grade 3 – Complex Fistula (Multiple Tracts or Recurring)
Requires advanced techniques like VAAFT (Video-Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment) or LIFT (Ligation of Intersphincteric Fistula Tract) to remove internal infection while preserving muscle control.
Grade 4 – High Complex/Recurrent Fistula with Abscess
Needs a combination of procedures like Seton Placement, Laser with Bio-Plug, or Sphincter-Saving Techniques. This stage demands expert surgical planning to prevent recurrence and protect continence.
